Welcome to CBS
Canberra Blind Society provides information, services and assistance to people who are blind or have a vision impairment in Canberra and the local region. Families, carers, community groups and businesses interested in learning more about people who are blind or have low vision can get support and information from us.
For more than 65 years we have provided a safe and welcoming environment through programs, community engagement and social events. We encourage our members and community to work together to assist in building independence for individuals and families that live with a wide range of vision impairments.
We are a not-for-profit charity and public benevolent institution that relies on the invaluable support of our community to operate our programs and support our clients.
If you would like to volunteer please contact us today on (02) 6247 4580 or email volunteers@canberrablindsociety.org.au. Tax deductible donations go a long way to help us maintain diverse and engaging programs and events for people we support, follow this link to make a donation.

VIP Hospital Kit
The Vision Impaired Persons (VIP) Hospital Kit provides practical information and resources for people who are blind or have low vision when they are admitted to hospital. The kit also assists patients who may have lost sight or become blind during the course of their hospital stay. It is designed as an important resource for hospital staff to provide appropriate care to patients who are blind or have low vision.
Information in the ‘VIP Hospital Kit’ is presented in large print and can be produced in Braille on request.
